Iran documentary wins award at Zimbabwe filmfest

Iranian movie ‘Spoon’ grabs the ‘Best Documentary’ prize at the 19th Zimbabwe International Film & Festival Trust (ZIFFT).

Directed by Jalal Veysi, the award-winning documentary flick chronicles narratives of physical punishment on kids against the backdrop of their parents’ mindset for such transient nurturing practices in a Kurdish region of the country.

Held early September, 200 films from 42 countries entered into this year’s competition.

The festival aims to promote the discovery and development of independent filmmakers, artists and audiences.

The 19th edition of ZIFFT was held in collaboration with the nation’s other leading film body, the International Images Film Festival for Women (IIFF), from 26 August to 2 September 2017.
